Our vision is to provide practical solutions to integrate renewable energy sources as domestic and industrial utility energy into Sri Lankan systems. Our initial focus is to produce domestic wind power generation units.
Sri Lanka is an island nation with substantial wind energy resources. But so far there had been only few investment to harvest this rich potential. As an ensemble of undergraduates of Sri Lanka's leading technical faculty, we believe it is up to us to find practical ways to harvest this potential.
Apart from the global interest to move for greener energy, Sri Lanka has a high electricity pricing tariff. And there is a new government policy to charge higher electricity tariff for peak demand times. So industries can store energy generated from wind units and use it on these peak demand times. It will be a good saving for industries.
This idea is a unique micro generation concept for Sri Lanka. And we hope to successfully initiate the project in near future.
